Understanding the Workspace

The Workspace at a Glance

The Plotstuff workspace is where you spend most of your time — viewing floorplans, placing assets, and managing your project. It is designed to give you maximum floorplan visibility while keeping all your tools within easy reach.

The workspace is divided into several key areas: the top toolbar with actions and navigation, the floorplan viewer in the centre, and the right-hand panel for asset types and asset lists. Understanding how these areas work together will help you move quickly through your projects.

The Top Toolbar

The toolbar runs along the top of the floorplan viewer and provides quick access to essential actions. From left to right, you will find:

- Navigation controls — Zoom in, zoom out, and fit-to-screen buttons to control your view of the floorplan. - Flows button — Opens the Approval & Installation Flows panel where you manage all your workflows. - Download Options — Access PDF exports, reports, bills of quantities, and production artwork. - Upload SVG — Import artwork files to associate with your assets. - Floorplan selector — Switch between different floorplans within the same project.

The Right-Hand Panel

The panel on the right side of the workspace has two tabs: Types and Assets.

The Types tab shows all your defined asset types with their colour indicators and the number of assets placed for each type on the current floorplan. You can toggle type visibility to focus on specific categories.

The Assets tab lists every individual asset placed on the current floorplan. Each entry shows the asset reference code, and clicking an asset in the list highlights it on the floorplan. This is especially useful on dense floorplans where visually locating a specific asset marker can be difficult.

💡

Use keyboard shortcuts for faster navigation: scroll to zoom, click and drag to pan, and use the fit-to-screen button (or press **F**) to reset the view when you get lost.

The Placement Toolbar

In the bottom-right corner of the floorplan viewer, you will find the placement toolbar. The + button activates placement mode, allowing you to click anywhere on the floorplan to add a new asset marker. You can also select existing markers to edit, move, or delete them.

When placement mode is active, your cursor changes to a crosshair, and clicking on the floorplan will create a new asset at that location. The asset is automatically assigned the currently selected asset type and a sequential reference code.
