Production Artwork

What Is Production Artwork?

Production artwork is the final, print-ready visual file for each asset. These are the files that go directly to your fabrication partner or print shop. Plotstuff generates individual SVG and PDF files for every asset in your project, each customised with the asset's unique data — name, code, directional content, icons, and any other fields.

Production artwork is generated from the visual templates you create in the template editor. Each asset type has its own template, and Plotstuff merges each asset's data into the template to produce a unique file per asset.

Generating Production Artwork

  1. 1

Ensure you have created visual templates for all asset types that need artwork (see Visual Template Editor).

  2. 2

Open a floorplan and click Download Options in the toolbar.

  3. 3

    Under Artwork, select Production Artwork.

  4. 4

Plotstuff will generate an individual artwork file for every asset in the project.

  5. 5

Download the batch as a ZIP archive containing all artwork files, organised by type and floor.

SVG vs PDF Output

Production artwork can be exported in two formats. SVG files are vector-based and ideal for fabrication workflows that use cutting plotters, laser cutters, or digital printers that accept vector input. PDF files are universally compatible and work with virtually any print workflow.

Both formats preserve the exact dimensions, colours, fonts, and layouts defined in your template. The files are production-grade — there is no need for any manual cleanup or adjustment before sending them to your fabrication partner.

💡

Run a test export with a small batch of assets before generating artwork for the entire project. This lets you verify that your templates produce correct output before committing to a full production run.

⚠️

Production artwork generation requires a visual template to be assigned to each asset type. Asset types without templates will be skipped during export. Check the export summary to ensure no types were missed.
